It's no secret that Ram's are prone to catastrophic front driveshaft failures. This problem has not been quite as prevalent on the 5th generation trucks, but customers have been asking for kits to protect their trucks just the same! These failures typically occur at the double cardan joint on the upper end of the shaft, next to the transfer case. After the driveshaft or transfer case breaks free, the loose driveshaft is likely to come through the cab floor, and/or rupture nearby fuel/brake/transmission lines, causing fire in some cases. This driveshaft loop will not prevent driveshaft failures but will protect from secondary damage in the event of a failure.

It is still recommended to grease and inspect your driveshaft frequently.
