The AAM ball joint delete system establishes one rotational axis. The stock geometry has an intersecting rotational axis which causes knuckles to travel in an arc instead of true rotation. (This is why a 35” tire rubs the fender liners on Dodges and wears out tires quickly) In the factory configuration the lower joint misaligns as it rotates and the upper joint telescopes because it’s not a ball joint at all, but a greased shank inside a steel sleeve. Because of this the American Iron Ball Joint Delete System will usually resolve a wobble or shimmy. 99% of the time a ball joint causes or amplifies “death wobble” due to omnidirectional movement in solid axle vehicles. It also improves diagnosis of other worn parts since it doesn’t mask symptoms like a ball joint.
The Ball Joint Delete System is designed for simple installation, minimal maintenance, and improved drivability. The average installation time is 2 hours with basic hand tools and there is an option for oversized cups. Each spherical bearing is pre-lubed during final assembly. Because the delete system is internally greased you just need to finish greasing after install to avoid debris sticking to grease during install. After installing it you never have to grease again. The ability to replace a bearing by simply removing a C clip makes rebuilds quick and simple.
