This sensor is a “Temperature Sensor” for EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) systems. the sensor measures the temperature of exhaust gases in the EGR circuit and sends that information back to the engine control module (ECM) so that proper EGR flow / timing / after-treatment control can be managed.

Since it’s an EGR temperature sensor, make sure the fault you’re diagnosing is indeed EGR temperature-related (excessive or insufficient EGR temp reading) rather than another sensor (NOx, O₂, differential pressure). Because the sensor is part of the EGR loop which can have soot, high temperature and sometimes coolant interaction (in EGR coolers) — if the EGR cooler, passages or piping are fouled or damaged, replacing the sensor alone may not fix the underlying issue.

Because emissions‐related sensors are critical (and sometimes costly), it’s worth buying from a reputable dealer to ensure genuine Mopar part (not counterfeit or generic). Once replaced, clear any fault codes, monitor live data (EGR temp readings) and ensure the EGR system returns to expected operation (no repeated fault codes, proper readings under load).
