Fits: 2013-2023 Ram 6.7L Cummins

This is a genuine OEM bypass valve from Mopar: described as an “Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Bypass Valve” (sometimes called an EGR cooler bypass or EGR bypass actuator). In the EGR/after-treatment system of a diesel engine (especially heavy-duty diesels like the 6.7L Cummins), this valve controls or redirects exhaust gas flow — specifically bypassing or directing exhaust through the EGR cooler or routing it around it depending on operating conditions. As such, it plays a key role in regulating emissions, helping the engine and its emission system achieve correct temperatures, reduce NOx, manage EGR cooling, etc.

Because it is an emission-system component operating at high temperature / heat cycles / exposure to exhaust gases, proper installation, correct torque, correct wiring and mounting location are important. If the valve fails (stuck open/closed, actuator failure, wiring fault), you may see issues like incorrect EGR cooling, higher EGTs (exhaust gas temps), DPF regeneration issues, NOx control system faults, fault codes in the ECM.

When installing, check the gasket/seal (if applicable), ensure the mounting surface is clean, ensure the valve actuator moves freely, verify no obstructions in the bypass path, and ensure the wiring connector is intact. After replacement, often you will need to clear any emission fault codes and allow the system to go through a full test/regeneration cycle so the ECM re-learns correct operation.
